“FOR every action there’s a reaction…”
Ray Winstone stars at the title character in new three-part ITV drama The Trials of Jimmy Rose.
With Amanda Redman as his wife Jackie.
Two class acts in a strong cast, featuring Downton Abbey’s Tom Cullen, Paul Jesson, Marion Bailey and Montanna Thompson.
We meet armed robber Jimmy as he is released from 12 years in prison.
Singing along to Frank Sinatra’s ‘That’s Life’.
Coming home to a wife who has had enough of a lifetime of lying.
And a young grandaughter in trouble.
Along the way Jimmy has to cope with the innovations of modern life.
Including how to use an iPhone and London buses that no longer accept cash.
Leading to just one of several classic lines from writer and creator Alan Whiting.
It was my pleasure to interview both Ray and Amanda for the ITV Press Pack / Production notes.

Directed by Adrian Shergold, it’s a hugely enjoyable story with some terrific performances.
The Trials of Jimmy Rose begins on ITV at 9pm this Sunday (August 30).
