Vera: Series 13 Interviews

“THERE might be a winding up. I don’t know.

“Ann Cleeves is also writing her 11th Vera book. So, there’s also that to consider.

“But a whole series? I think not. We’ll see.”

Brenda Blethyn talking to me about the future of ITV1 / ITVX drama Vera, which begins its 13th series in the UK at 8pm this Sunday (January 7).

Three new films which see the return of David Leon as Joe Ashworth following Kenny Doughty’s decision to leave his role as Vera sidekick Aiden Healy.

All is explained in the first episode.

That 11th Vera book – The Dark Wives – is due to be published in the UK on August 29 this year with Brenda now having filmed 54 feature length Vera films.

Will she be persuaded to return for at least a few more episodes – if not another series?

As ever with Vera, all will become clear in time.

Meanwhile you can read the recently released second part of my interview for ITV with Brenda, along with my interview with David Leon, at the link below.

Update: A new series of Vera will be filmed in 2024 to be screened in 2025.
