Don’t Stop Movin’

REACH for the stars, climb every mountain higher…
Former S Club 7 star Hannah Spearritt is back on screen soon in what ITV hopes will be a monster hit.
She plays zoologist Abby Lister in a six-part drama called Primeval, which begins in the New Year.
“It was a great part for me to get and I’m very proud to be in it,” Hannah told me when we chatted about the series last week.
“There were so many great elements involved in the role, and the show was so new and fresh, there was no question of, ‘Do I want to do this?’”
Already an actress and performer, Hannah appeared in four TV series after joining the S Club party, with the group also enjoying a string of hit singles.

Although she’s had a number of acting roles since S Club split in May 2003, Primeval is by far her biggest subsequent TV break.
“I think it was important that I took a year out, which I did do last year,” she said.
“It’s taken a while. I just feel now, this year, that I’ve come into my own and I’m really happy with what I’m doing.”
Primeval stars Douglas Henshall as evolutionary scientist Prof Nick Cutter, recruited by the government to investigate a series of dinosaur sightings.
And, wouldn’t you just know it, it turns out that long extinct creatures are tearing through a series of rips in time.
Still just 25, Hannah is currently filming the role of a maid in a new Marple adventure, also for ITV1.
“It’s going well,” she said of her acting career. “But there’s still a long way to go and a lot more to learn.”
As for S Club: “You always get recognised for your previous work, so I think that will always be there. I don’t mind that.”
