“I’LL make a note of the fact that you apologised profusely…in tears.”

Sarah Lancashire as Sergeant Catherine Cawood in tonight’s Happy Valley episode three. (BBC1 9pm)

Sally Wainwright’s brilliant script matched, yet again, by Sarah’s work on screen.

In a series reminding us that Sally’s writing CV includes dramas like Unforgiven, as well as Last Tango In Halifax, Scott and Bailey and At Home With The Braithwaites.

Back in March I attended the London launch of this six-part drama, followed by a Q&A.

A few hours later I wrote the story further down this page, which has not gone online – so best put that right now.

Keeley Hawes and Ed Stoppard as Lady Agnes and Sir Hallam.

“THIS is London…”

A BBC Radio announcer and the chimes of Big Ben herald the return of Upstairs Downstairs.

Its first full BBC1 series following the three episodes screened at Christmas 2010.

Keeley Hawes (Lady Agnes Holland) and Ed Stoppard (Sir Hallam Holland) again lead the line upstairs at 165 Eaton Place.

With Alex Kingston arriving in episode one as Dr Blanche Mottershead, the younger sister of Lady Holland.

Juliet Aubrey and Jaime Winstone as Maire and Anneli Alderton

A car turns a corner…

Five Daughters (BBC1, Sunday, 9pm) is an exceptional drama.

The three one hour films are screened over consecutive nights and are worth every minute of the time you will invest watching them.

They tell the true stories of the five young women murdered in Ipswich by Steve Wright in 2006.

All five bodies being discovered over the space of 10 shocking days.
