Simon Cowell flanked by Ant and Dec at today's press conference

SIMON Cowell was his usual polite self at this afternoon’s launch for one of ITV’s biggest events of 2011.

Thanking us for taking the time to turn up, and revealing that he still worries no-one will.

There was no chance of that, even though the invites to the London event only went out some 24 hours before.

BACK from the London press launch for Britain’s Got Talent 2011.

Where the media saw most of the first audition show to be broadcast on ITV1 at 8:20pm this Saturday.

Followed by a Q&A with judges Michael McIntyre, Amanda Holden and David Hasselhoff.

Michael and David are new to the show this year, thanks to the absence of both Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan.

And on the evidence of programme one, neither Simon nor Piers will be missed.

Piers, Amanda and Simon
YOU can rest easy. Britain has still got talent.

There was no repeat of last year’s dramatic SuBo moment at today’s London launch for series four of Britain’s Got Talent.

When 12 months ago a cinema full of cynical media folk suddenly fell silent before a few tears were shed.

No hankies were required this morning, although it was a close run thing.
