Upstairs Downstairs

The main cast

ONE of the busiest times of year for below stairs journalists who write about TV.

With Christmas deadlines fast approaching.

Including transcribing and writing up interviews with many of the stars of the BBC line-up officially made public yesterday.

So not much time to post a detailed blog today.

Instead, I thought some might like to see these newly released images of BBC1’s Upstairs Downstairs.

Due on screen in the Christmas period, this three-part return to 165 Eaton Place is set in 1936.

It features Ed Stoppard as Sir Hallam Holland and Keeley Hawes as his wife Lady Agnes.

Other cast members include original ITV Upstairs Downstairs star Jean Marsh, Dame Eileen Atkins, Claire Foy, Adrian Scarborough, Anne Reid and Art Malik.

You can read a short Q&A with Keeley here.

Too young to remember the original? A fan of Downton Abbey?

Clear your diary to watch a real TV treat.

HUGE ! I am old enough to remember the former “upstairs downstairs” (maîtres et valets, in french) with many screenplays like Georges Feydeau’s … and others like Zola…

Oooo I can’t wait to see this. I was too young and live across the pond to know of the original. I’m looking forward to this updated version!!!
